Learned this technique on line from another demonstrator and I just love it. It is actually quite easy to do. It always amazes me that you don't need a lot of glitz and fanfare to make your cards. And this is so much better than buying a card at the store. You will get lots of oohs and aahs when you present your friends or family with this card.
I will list all the materials and then a tutorial on this background technique.
Stampin' Up Cardstock: Cherry Cobbler (5 1/2 X 8 1/2 plus 5 1/2 X 2 1/2 piece for backing the punched ornament) and Whisper White (5 1/4 X 4)
Stampin' Up Stamp Set: Tags Till Christmas and Teeny Tiny Wishes (many greetings for all occasions and very versatile)
Stampin' Up Ink Pad: Cherry Cobbler
Stampin' Up Tools and Accessories: Ornament Punch, Large Word Windo Punch, Modern Label Punch, Basic Rhinestones, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Big Shot Die Cut Machine, Brayer, Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Snail adhesive, Dimensionals (You will use all of these over and over again and year to year)
Step 1: Fold your Cherry Cobbler card stock in half.
Step 2: Run the embossing folder with the Whisper White CC in the Big Shot to create the embossed image.
Step 3: Run your brayer onto the ink pad several times in one direction only. Then lightly brayer over the raised portion of the embossed image. You may need to do this several times, reinking as you go, to achieve the depth of color you would like. It is that SIMPLE.
Step 4: Stamp ornament stamp onto Whisper White scrap and punch it out with ornament punch. You will now need to back the ornament in Cherry Cobbler and the directions can be found in another post here.
Stp 5: Cut a piece of ribbon approximataely 6 1/2" and attach ends to the back of embossed paper so that it is centered on the front of the card. Using another piece of ribbon tie a bow about 1 1/2" down from the top.
Step 6: Attach about 5 rhinestones onto ribbon close to knot. Attach ornament with dimensionals close to rhinestones so that it appears it is suspended from the rhinestones.
Step 7: Using the Merry Christmas stamp from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, stamp it in the Cherry Cobbler ink pad and stamp onto Whisper White paper. Punch it out with the Large word Punch and adhere to small piece of Cherry Cobbler then punch out the whole thing with the Modern Label Punch. Adhere with dimensionals under the ornament and centered over the ribbon. Attach to Cherry Cobbler card.
Really easy. Real COOL. Wait till your friends see this one.
This is a "MUST TRY" technique. Guaranteed you will love it.
